Intellectual disabilities are most often developmental, in that they are typically present at birth. A person with an intellectual disability will often experience difficulties with learning and may struggle in aspects of their day to day life, including socialisation, self-care and communication.

Naomi has been doing intellectual disability assessments with children over her 15 years in private practice. 

An intellectual disability assessment with Naomi will include the following:

1. A clinical interview 
2. A cognitive (intellectual) assessment 
3. An assessment of adaptive behaviour (such as the ABAS-3 or WHODAS-2) to assess the level of independence the child/adult has in their day to day life
4. Consultation with schools and therapists
5. Other rating scales to screen for attention/executive functioning 
6. A feedback session at the end of the assessment to talk through the findings and recommendations with report provided.

For adults, the assessment will be tailored based on the initial appointment.
